02How Treatments Are Chosen
The face ages in layers. So does the plan.
Every treatment on this page works at a particular depth. Choosing well is mostly a matter of matching the layer that has changed to the modality that reaches it, then sequencing what follows. That sequenced combination is what we call multi-modality, and it is why a plan is built rather than a single appointment sold.
Deep structure
Ultraformer MPT HIFU
Focused ultrasound reaches the SMAS layer, the tissue a surgeon lifts. Nothing applied to the surface reaches this depth, which is why lifting is a distinct decision from tightening.
The dermis
Volnewmer RF
Monopolar radiofrequency heats the dermis in volume, remodelling collagen through the full thickness of the skin. Firmness and skin quality answer here, not to injectables.
Volume and contour
Dermal and lip filler
Filler placed on structure restores what has been lost from the cheek, jaw, chin or lips. Placement is a structural decision, so it is planned against the face rather than by the syringe.
The surface
Injectables, peels, microneedling
Dynamic lines, texture, pigment and hydration are surface concerns with surface answers. They are often the most visible change and the fastest, which is why they usually finish a plan rather than start it.
03Before You Book
Questions we are asked first.
Silk Clinical Aesthetics is nurse-led. Cosmetic injectables, dermal and lip filler, skin boosters, fat dissolver, PDO and lifting threads and PRP are performed by registered nurses. Non-needle treatments such as Volnewmer RF, Ultraformer MPT HIFU, skin peels and microdermabrasion may be performed by qualified beauty specialists.
You do not need to arrive knowing. Bring the concern, not the product name, and the assessment works out which layer has changed and which modality reaches it. If you would rather start from the concern, the concerns index groups the treatments that answer each one.
Often they should be. Concerns rarely sit at one depth, so a plan commonly sequences two or three treatments across three to twelve months, with healing intervals built in rather than compressed. This is the multi-modality approach behind the Silk Protocol.
Every published price is listed in full on the pricing page in New Zealand dollars, and each treatment page carries its own price menu. Skin consultations are $45 and injectable consultations are $50, with follow-ups free. You leave a consultation with a quoted figure, not an estimate that moves at the till.
It varies by treatment and is stated on each treatment page rather than generalised here. Device treatments such as Volnewmer RF and Ultraformer MPT are generally no-downtime. Injectables can leave small marks or swelling for a few days. Fat dissolver deliberately causes significant swelling for three to seven days, which is part of how it works.
Anti-wrinkle injections last around three to four months. Filler depends on the product and the area, commonly six to eighteen months. Collagen-driven device results build over three to six months and are maintained periodically rather than reapplied. Fat dissolver results are permanent, since treated fat cells do not regenerate.
