Men and injectables in Christchurch: what booking data shows and what differs

International booking data from North America, the UK and Ireland, and Europe shows more men booking injectables in 2025, and repeating more often. That report does not include New Zealand. A male face is assessed as its own plan, not a copied female one. This page sells only a consultation with a registered nurse at Silk Clinical.

What booking data says

Fresha's Selfcare Report 2025, built on platform booking data, reports that men booking injectables in 2025, indexed to 2024, rose in North America (+13%) and the UK and Ireland (+4%), with Europe at +76%. Repeat frequency for men lifted in the UK and Ireland (+5%), Europe (+4%) and North America (+1%). Women still accounted for the majority of injectable bookings on Fresha globally in 2025.

Among men, a prescription anti-wrinkle injectable remained the most booked injectable from 2023 to 2024. Fat-dissolving injections and regenerative treatments also gained traction as Fresha categories, not as a Silk offer. The report does not publish New Zealand, Australia or Oceania figures for male injectable bookings or repeat frequency. That is not a Christchurch trend, not a Silk trend, and not a reason to skip assessment.

Assessment differences

Keaney and Alster (2013) report sex differences in facial anatomy: larger cranial size, a different cranial shape, greater skeletal muscle mass, higher density of facial blood vessels, and more severe facial lines in men. Across 17 clinical studies (5,646 participants) only 629 (11.1%) were male, and only two studies accounted for sex in design or subgroup analysis. Dosing, efficacy and safety in men remain inadequately studied. Dose is individual. Units are not interchangeable, and men do not automatically need twice as much.

A 2025 cross-sectional analysis by da Silva and colleagues observed 164 people in Brazil. Men received greater hyaluronic acid volume in the mandible. Women received larger volumes in the lips, chin, pre-jowls and under-eye. Mean total prescription anti-wrinkle dose per person was not higher in men. Only 19 of 121 people in that dose comparison were men. Copying a female plan can feminise a male face. That is a reason to be assessed, not a promised result.

Realistic limits

Prescription anti-wrinkle injections and hyaluronic acid filler do different jobs. Duration varies and is confirmed at consultation. Looking rested is a goal, not a guaranteed outcome. Vascular events, and whether the injector can manage them, belong in consultation. This page does not claim treatment cannot harm.

What can be advertised

New Zealand allows public advertising of approved prescription medicines with mandatory information, and Medsafe's advertising guideline is clear that unapproved medicines cannot be advertised. The New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine summarises approved aesthetic advertising for prescription anti-wrinkle products as forehead lines, crow's feet and frown lines. Other sites belong in consultation. Hyaluronic acid fillers are medical devices, and claims must match intended purpose.

Under section 58 of the Medicines Act 1981, a medical advertisement must not present a treatment as infallible, use a nurse as a product endorsement, or claim a particular person benefited. From 1 July 2026 the Therapeutic and Health Advertising Code requires substantiation, and forbids implying safety or effectiveness in all cases.

Book a consultation

Silk Clinical Aesthetics is a nurse-led clinic in Christchurch, founded and led by Shontelle Prasad, a registered nurse with twelve and a half years of nursing practice, including nine in clinical aesthetics. Injectables are performed by registered nurses.

A consultation covers history and the face at rest and in movement, then a written quote. You can book it without treatment. It is not treatment on the day unless you ask and the clinic agrees. The consultation page lists a $50 optional injectables consult. For the hyaluronic acid service outline, continue to dermal fillers for men.

To be assessed, book a consultation. Individual results vary.
